Thrive and Awaken® Tip

The fullness of reality is beyond our comprehension. What we do know is already mind-boggling. For example, imagine the 200 billion to 2 trillion galaxies in the universe. Try imagining the atomic nature of the average body that has about a billion billion billion atoms!

It’s logical why our sensory systems limit the amount of information we take in. We’d be overwhelmed if we perceived all the atoms, electromagnetic waves, and forces of gravity around us. What we see, hear, smell, taste, and touch is our interpretation of a small fraction of reality. Our sensory systems function like a computer’s operating system, providing an interface to interpret reality. Without this filtering, we’d be overwhelmed by the full scope of reality, much like seeing all the energy coursing through a computer’s circuitry.

The ego can easily go into Survival Mode because it feels safest when it knows something. But the vast majority of reality is unknowable. Even what we do know is filtered through a limited and biased sensory system. To compensate for this uncertainty—and the fear it brings—humans often seek more and more power, believing it will provide safety.

Thriving is learning to accept our ego’s limitations. This realization is humbling and allows us to open our hearts and act from love. When we come from love we can advocate for love.

Awakening Mode is surrendering to the awe and wonder of life’s mystery and embracing the flow with compassion, gratitude, and love.
