Thrive and Awaken® Tip

Attachments are part of being human. We attach to people, roles, beliefs, identities, and ways we want life to unfold. These attachments often form in Survival Mode, where holding on creates a sense of safety, stability, or control.

The challenge is not that attachments exist. It’s that we become bound by them. When something we are attached to is threatened or lost, our reactions arise automatically—fear, anger, anxiety, or grasping. The stronger the attachment, the stronger the pull on our inner state.

Thriving includes an awareness to what we are holding onto. It involves learning to fully show up for yourself in a loving and support way. As you begin providing your own holding, you can enjoy connections with others without creating codependency or being bound through attachment.

Awakening deepens as attachments lose their grip. You begin to experience yourself as something more fundamental than what you hold onto. From here, life is engaged with openness and ease, rather than driven by the need to secure or protect.

Reflection:

Take a moment to notice something you feel attached to right now. What happens in you when you imagine it changing or going away? Simply observe your reaction, with openness and compassion.
