Thriving and Awakening Tip
Learning to thrive means you are changing old survival mode habits that have been programmed into your brain. Change is challenging because you are used to certain perceptions and emotions, even if they don’t serve you well. Frequently you use the consequences of those reactions such as a spouse being angry with you or a boss putting you on probation to force a change. The forcing of change can be effective, but it is a Survival Mode strategy. You end up reinforcing Survival Mode.
A Thriving Mode strategy for change is Determination. This has several important qualities. You need to have clarity of direction, be motivated by the benefits of change so you are pulled towards a goal, and encouragement that is uplifting and supportive. Write out examples of these three qualities for something you want to change.
